Type your text in a bold font. CTRL + Click on the text layer. Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool and use 'Intersect with selection'.
Make a selection just like in the picture. Make a new layer and fill the selection with white.
Apply Gradient Overlay to the text layer.
Apply Stroke to the text layer.
The final result is the Metal Text.
